Preparing for your Interview

The first question often thrown into the interview arena is “What do you know about us?” Any candidate seriously considering a career move to another organisation must fully understand the market in which they are entering, a brief history of the organisation they will be joining and have a clear understanding of how they will fit into the structure and the value they can add to the particular department concerned. Fully research the company and its products, this information and knowledge may just give you the edge in an interview.

Interview techniques

Most organisations will conduct face-to-face interviews with candidates, often augmented by either psychometric, verbal reasoning or aptitude tests. If Ashby Finance arranges the interview, your consultant will fully brief and prepare you on what to expect. Your job is to sell yourself, your background and experience and your future potential to the interviewer.
Punctuality is crucial so be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before any scheduled interview time. Good presentation is vital, always dress smartly and in a business fashion. Make eye contact with the interviewer and keep smiling, remember that the interviewer is looking for someone who genuinely wants the job.

Speak clearly and concisely, answer questions as fully as possible, ask questions about the role and company.

At the end of the interview thank the interviewer for their time and finish with a firm handshake. If you are asked about your interest in the opportunity at this stage, always be positive.
